So here are some shots from our road trip to Norway, awesome country, insanely beautiful. For change, most of the shots are from my Samyang 7.5mm. Lovely lens, it have been kind of forgotten lately. Alot because of the Voigtländer 🙂 But with scenery like this, you gotto go wider. Colors from the Samyang is not as good as you might expect, but in post you can get it right pretty easy.

Its not like it totaly lack colors, just some saturation and contrast. Sharpness is really good. very little or no CA. Distortion, well, its a fisheye for 270Euro (in sweden). So go get one!

Couple of shots in there from the Voigtländer aswell, info under the pictures.

Its late, so i´ll go to bed.

And some macro tubes?

Selling these on behalf of a friend who does not enjoy internet very much… He assures me it all works fine, i have just tested the AF and everything seems to work fine, no problems with scratches or anything like that!

Finally some summer heat.

granny-5 doggy-water granny-3Swimming at my grandmothers place after some high pulse mtb riding in the heat, it was quite nice to cooldown after that feat.  Some CA around her face in shot nr 3. All three shot with some less then deacent Dörr ND4 @f0.95. Dont really recomend these filters, they even managed to make my (its now sold though) oly 45mm 1.8 look soft. And thats pretty much one of the sharpest lenses on the planet.

But i had to stack 2 of them at that time, one i guess is alright if your on a (really) tight budget. but, u can stack B+W ND4+Nd8+Nd110 with no aparrent loss of sharpness so with that in mind. Dont buy Dörr ND filters…

Well that turned in to some sort of filter review.

But this blog is more about the photos then my review, im not in any regard a pro, my main goal with this is to be a sourse for “bokehlicious” Nokton 17.5mm f0.95 photos to look at, and see what it can achieve befor buing it.

And to sum up the months with the OMD and the 17.5. Awesome combo! And you say its all realtive though, sure. But when i say that, i compare it to my previous set-upseses. (5d mkii +35mm 1.4 L or 50mm 1.2 L) In DOF terms its impossible to compare, well its not but the 5d will have shallower dof. Bokeh i would say is better then the 35L but not as good as the 50L. And depending on you application for the set up, with the MF in mind, the Nokton might not be for all poeple.

When i think about all the hassle with micro adjusting the AF of the 5d, but i never felt i could trust it enough. MF on the 5d is a Pain to use. And to haul that Mother f around… I brought it + 24-70L and a 200L up the inca trail to macchiu piccu. And on a couple of  skiing trips to the Alps.

I finally realized, i dont make 5million inch prints of my photos, and i dont want to haul that size and weight around, and i dont want the hassle with micro adjusting anymore.

So i bought the Em-5 on a whim. And it really surprised me in almost everyway. Bought some “cheap” lenses (compared to Canon lenses) and everything was tack sharp, AF nailed perfect every time! the only downside (almost, the AF Servo still has ways to go) was the DOF, it wasnt the same, the “magic” you get from shooting at f1.2 – f1,8 on full frame was not quite there.

And then i stumbled on the the Nokton 17.5, and the math makes the DOF some where around f1.9 in FF terms. So even with the huge price tag i decided to buy it, even though it makes that small package heavy for its size, totally worth it, the perfect compromize between size and “quality”.

No problem to bring it every where!

Well thats my limit of writing in one sitting, like i said:P My main foucs is the photos. So im gonna sum it up here. Buy the Nokton, if you feel you can spare the money, you wont regret it!

Kayak!

kajak-3 kajak-4 kajak-5 kajak-7 söälen-2 kajak-2

Bought myself a kayak a cople of days ago (witch also means i wont be getting the Voigtländer 42.5mm any time soon 🙁 ), already cought my first pike in it! 🙂 It´s not quite the same as fishing from a boat. And as for the photos, Some CA in shot nr 1, at the ” Venture Kayaks” logo. Tack-sharp as always. perhaps there is more to whine about for the geeky eye. I sure cant find it though 🙂

I have pretty much sold all my other lenses by now (Pana Leica 25, Oly 45 and the Pana 14). The 17.5mm is always on. Still have the Oly 40-150 and Samyang 7.5mm. I need those for my holydays or skiing trips in the winter. That and the low coast of the two are the only reason i still own them.

All shot with The Voigtländer Nokton 17.5mm f0.95 @f0.95 + OMD Em-5.

an Actual fishing trip! (With the Nokton)

idräää-65 idräää-5 idräää-9 idräää-11 idräää-16 idräää-26 idräää-43 idräää-58

Just came home from a fishing trip to Idre. This time we actualy cought fish, and not just one. So that was nice, and we had good enough weather aswell.

And as for the pics they turned out nicely as always, maybe the subjects could have been better :p

The second picture show quite alot of CA around his face and neck and the last one around out lines of the cap and the text on the cap. Other then that, not much to whine about.

All shots taken with the Olympus Omd Em-5, Voigtländer Nokton 17.5mm f0.95 @f0.95, hld-6(frist part) and a B+W ND8 filter.

Latersssss.
